The President for Economic and Cultural Cooperation between Romania and Russia, Tudor Afanasov, participated in the SPIEF-2024

 

The International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg has concluded. Interesting discussions took place, participants forged new connections, and exchanged contacts. According to the forum's organizing committee at the closing conference, 21.3 thousand people from 139 countries attended the SPIEF-2024. Over 980 agreements, totaling 6.4 trillion rubles, were concluded during the 4-day St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The SPIEF brought a record volume of investments to the Northern capital. Within the forum, 69 agreements worth 1.227 trillion rubles were signed.

59 countries expressed their intention to join the BRICS, SCO, and EAEU unions, according to Anton Kobyakov, an advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, at the SPIEF.

"The unprecedented interest from foreign partners and media indicates that the Russian market and its overall economic development model and strengthening against the backdrop of serious restrictions and pressure from the collective West have demonstrated their competitiveness," Kobyakov said.

The forum's participants and guests included foreign heads of state, foreign businessmen, and bloggers. Some came for beneficial cooperation, while others came to witness a global event. Presidents of Bolivia, Zimbabwe, the Republic of Srpska, and Abkhazia, as well as the Prime Minister of the Central African Republic and the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of South Ossetia, attended the forum. Politicians from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Belarus, Hungary, Vietnam, China, and other countries are also expected to arrive.

A special guest at the SPIEF this year was a delegation from Oman. The country's representatives stated their desire to cooperate with Russia, including in the field of tourism.

On June 7, at the plenary session of the SPIEF, where heads of state of Russia, Bolivia, Zimbabwe, and others spoke, the President for Economic and Cultural Cooperation between Romania and Russia, Tudor Afanasov, was also present and spoke.

The main theme of the entire forum was "Basis for a Multipolar World," which will unite leaders from three continents.

Our goal is to understand the situation in the global economy, strengthen and acquire new partnership ties. Different cultures and economies, different positions on the world stage. But everyone appreciates and finds various perspectives on world order and economic processes useful.

Over 150 thematic sessions took place during the SPIEF, discussing "Small businesses, which have become significantly more complicated, especially over the past 10 years. There is a need for the formation of a seamless system for the growth of small and medium-sized businesses. Nowadays, youth are actively involved in entrepreneurship, particularly in technological entrepreneurship," emphasized the minister.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund signed an agreement with the Indian company Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited for the construction of a plant for injectable drugs in Russia. Additionally, an agreement was reached on the development and production of innovative drugs with the BioCubaFarma holding from Cuba.

Brazil, in turn, plans to increase trade turnover with Russia, while the United Arab Emirates seeks to strengthen partnership in private businesses such as real estate, transportation, and other services.
